Yes, children benefit from Chinese medicine, too!  Commonly treated ailments include digestive issues, trouble sleeping, headaches, asthma, eczema, rashes, colds and flus, ear infections, bedwetting, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, teething pains, and moodiness or other emotional disturbances.  In addition to acupuncture (or if your child is afraid of needles), we may use herbs, essential oils, tuning forks, moxa, cupping and/or gua sha to improve your child's health.  Learn more on our blog!

These longer, combined treatments are designed to be the ultimate pampering experience while also enhancing your health and sense of wellbeing.  Immerse yourself in relaxation and reflection with acupuncture and massage.  At your request, we may additionally prescribe herbs, nutritional counseling and lifestyle advice as part of your treatment.

Rejuvenate your appearance naturally!  Diminish puffiness, wrinkles, discoloration, acne and inflammation, tone and lift, regenerate skin cells and give your collagen a boost with acupuncture, facial cupping and gua sha.  We recommend 12 treatments, at least one per week, followed by monthly or quarterly maintenance treatments as an alternative to botox and face lifts.  Package of 12 treatments available for a discounted rate of $1,650.

Let your inner and outer beauty shine!  Enjoy a relaxing cupping and gua sha session to help you look your best.  These ancient techniques increase circulation to your face, resulting in increased collagen, fewer wrinkles, and a healthy glow.  They also encourage lymphatic drainage, reducing puffiness and bags around your eyes, tone and lift your skin, regenerate skin cells and calm inflammation.  We recommend 12 treatments, at least one per week, followed by monthly maintenance treatments, for maximum results - but you'll see the difference even after one session!  Package of 12 treatments available for a discounted rate of $480.

Life can be challenging, and sometimes you need support on a daily basis.  The ear acupuncture weekly package is offered for those struggling with addiction or an emotional crisis...or just needing a helping hand in the midst of a tumultuous time.  With this package, you can come in once per day for ear acupuncture (4 days of the week).  If a private treatment room is not available, you may receive your treatment in the lobby.  We will not spend a lengthy time talking, but you will receive a thorough ear treatment with time to rest and rejuvenate.  Ear acupuncture is very calming while strengthening your willpower to resist cravings.  Applicable conditions include quitting smoking, drinking or drugs, food addictions or cravings, sexual addiction, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, among others.  Treatment available during the operating hours of your selected acupuncturist's 4-day business week.

Neurostructural Integration Technique (NST) is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy and a holistic approach to wellbeing. This bodywork technique initiates a process of natural auto regulation to occur in the spinal column and consequently throughout the whole body. The resultant effect of this is comprehensive reorganization of the musculature of the body characterized by a lasting relief from pain and dysfunction, an increase in energy, and an unmistakable sense of wellbeing.

NST treats the whole body and addresses every major muscle and joint system as well as affects organic, endocrine and autonomic nervous function. The benefits of NST are not limited to the presenting physical condition but extend to the emotional, cognitive and spiritual levels of healing. Substantial relief is frequently attained after the first session and generally only a few sessions are needed to resolve all but the most serious complaints. Major shifts and changes often occur after the second or third session. Certain chronic or degenerative conditions may benefit from further or ongoing attention.

An NST treatment consists of a series of precise moves on specific areas of the body. The moves are a gentle cross-fiber maneuvering of muscle, tendon, ligament or nerves using primarily the thumbs and fingers. Gentle manipulation is applied to the lower and upper back, abdomen, neck, arms and legs, using varying pressure and incorporating resting periods to allow the body to respond and benefit from each series of "moves".

NST sessions generally last from 45 minutes to 1 hour. NST is safe and effective for all ages from newborn to the elderly.

Conditions that respond well to NST: spinal conditions, cranial and TMJ conditions, headaches including migraines, neck conditions including whiplash, back conditions including pelvic, lumbar and thoracic, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand conditions, leg, knee, ankle and foot conditions, digestive and intestinal problems, respiratory problems including asthma, arthritis and joint conditions, menstrual, fertility and menopausal conditions, accidents and injuries, sports injuries, acute and chronic fatigue, stress, anxiety and depression, health maintenance.

Complimenting your acupuncture treatment or used on its own, herbal medicine provides a way to improve your health on a daily basis.  Formulas are selected based on the patterns of disharmony you present.  Herbs not only address specific symptoms but correct imbalances that could otherwise create longstanding issues.  We offer herbs in granule and pill form.  Granules, a powder form you mix in hot water, can be customized specifically for you.  Taking herbs is truly an investment in your health!

Our most popular, therapeutic massage combines the best of both Western and Eastern modalities of massage to ease pain, relax tight muscles, calm your mind and enrich your spirit.  Blue Heron's massage practitioners each have 14 years of experience, imbibing their massages with vast knowledge of the body and a variety of techniques from which to choose to help you feel your best.  Integrative massages incorporate swedish, acupressure, shiatsu, stretch, and polarity techniques (as deemed appropriate) with a focus on breath, movement, and creative integrative strokes. This is a very relaxing and balancing massage that facilitates an overall connection to mind, body and spirit.

Chinese Massage (tui na) incorporates knowledge of the acupuncture channels with massage.  It is similar to other forms of massage in that it relaxes and eases muscle tension, but it is typically more invigorating and opening.  Your Chinese massage may include cupping, gua sha and acupressure.

Deep Tissue Massage focuses on specific troubled areas using deeper pressure and neuromuscular treatments when needed; mainly trigger point therapy and myofascial release. Blue Heron's practitioners work in layers, moving deeper as the muscles release in their own time.

Integrative massage with the addition of essential oils chosen to amplify the pain-relieving and relaxing aspects of your massage.  Essential oil blends will be chosen to increase circulation, relax tight muscles, ease pain, uplift or calm your spirit, and deepen relaxation.  Additionally, essential oils immediately awaken the olfactory nerve, enriching communication with your brain and nervous system to amplify the results you are striving to achieve through your massage.

Heat has long been used to ease muscle pain and tension. Heated basalt stones are used throughout the massage to melt away tension, ease muscle stiffness and bring blood flow to affected areas of the body. Hot stones help aid in muscle spasms, increase flexibility and range of motion, and promote deeper muscle relaxation.  Hot stone massage can be beneficial for those who have extremely tight muscles, fibromyalgia, suffer from arthritic symptoms or want a more deeply relaxing and grounding massage.

Manual lymphatic drainage massage is a very gentle massage that encourages lymph flow in the body. The lymph system is a slow moving system of vessels and lymph nodes that is supplementary to the body’s system of blood circulation. It delivers nutrients to cells and carries away excess water, cellular waste, bacteria, viruses and toxins. When our lymphatic system isn’t working properly, our tissues can become swollen and our body’s natural immune system slows down and cannot naturally detoxify on its own.  The purpose of lymphatic drainage is to cleanse and regenerate tissues and organs as well as to promote balance of chemistry. If tissue has been damaged, lymphatic drainage helps stimulate the lymphatic system to remove wastes more rapidly from around those inflamed tissues.

Lymphatic drainage is beneficial in promoting tissue regeneration (ie for scars), stimulating the immune system, and relieving bronchitis, sinusitis, arthritis, acne, eczema, chronic fatigue, ENT conditions, headaches, vertigo, fibromyalgia and autoimmune disease.  It also stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system to reduce stress, depression, insomnia, pain, muscle spasm, post-trauma recovery (ie whiplash), and post-surgical tissue swelling. Lastly, lymphatic drainage massage is helpful in preparing the body pre-surgery and reducing inflammation and accelerating healing post surgery.

Prenatal Massage can help facilitate a smooth transition into motherhood by relieving the discomfort associated with shifts in posture and increased weight bearing. Massage also helps with decreasing stress, balancing hormone levels, reducing maternal anxiety, improving sleep quality, alleviating tension in the back, hips, legs and feet, and decreasing complications in labor. You will comfortably relax on your side or in a pregnancy cushion while you and your baby are supported by pillows. Prenatal massage provides a wonderful time for you to bond with your baby.  Available after your first trimester only.

Reflexology is an ancient practice dating as far back as 1000 BC in China. In the United States, Dr. William H. Fitzgerald, who is referred to as the "father of reflexology" was the first person to develop zone therapy. Dr Shelby Riley later developed a detailed map of reflex points on the feet and hands that correspond with points on the body.

When the reflexes are stimulated, the body's natural electrical energy works along with the nervous system to clear any blockages in the corresponding zones.  Pressure applied to any part of a zone will affect the entire zone and can be stimulated by working any reflex in that same zone.  Manipulating specific reflexes removes stress and activates a parasympathetic nervous system response in the body to enable the blockages to be released by a physiological change in the body. With stress removed and circulation enhanced, the body is allowed to return to a state of homeostasis.

According to Hindu and/or Buddhist belief, chakras are vast, yet contained, pools of energy in our bodies which govern our psychological qualities. There are said to be seven main chakras: four in our upper body, which govern our mental properties, and three in our lower body, which govern our instinctual properties.

In this session, we will take a look at deficient or excessive issues going on in each charka. Using Reiki healing energy techniques, we will balance these seven chakras to allow positive qualities to replace anything that is blocking healthy energy flow.

Thai massage, provided by Ashlee Dixon, is an ancient healing art with origins in Ayurvedic Medicine and Yoga. It has evolved into a unique and magical combination of gentle rocking, deep stretching, rhythmic compression, soft tissue manipulation, energy balancing and acupressure.  Thai massage affects the entire body by increasing flexibility, releasing both deep and superficial tension, enhancing the body's natural energy flow, and promoting inner peace and a quiet mind. It is performed on a mat on the floor.  The massage is done fully clothed and no oils are required.  Thai massage can provide a good opportunity of achieving a state of deep emotional equanimity, profound stress relief, and moments of sweet bliss.  NOTE: Please come dressed in loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that can stretch easily, like yoga or workout wear.
